New costume yay! I made this costume in time for Comic Con and had a blast wearing it!
Character: Phoenix Force Jean Grey
Game: Marvel Avengers Alliance
costume made/modeled by Yaya Han
photographed by Patrick Calilung www.facebook.com/patrick.calil…
Construction notes:
I loved that Phoenix finally got some armor! The design for this costume looks like this: i.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/m…
I concentrated on the armor first. I made a pattern for the chest piece by measuring and drawing out pieces on paper, then fitting and altering them until I was happy with the pattern. Same for the shoulder pauldrons. Using the paper patterns, I made the pieces out of Worbla with foam in between each base layer. Using the Phoenix bird theme as inspiration, I added stylized design details to the armor for more texture and depth. You can see progress on the armor pieces here:
sphotos-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hph…
I painted the pieces after filler priming them. fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net…
I sewed the bodysuit from 2 different types of stretch pleather, made all the straps with buckles, sash & accessories.
The wig came from Arda arda-wigs.com!
More photos coming soon, as I receive them!
BTW - The amount of spam now on dA is abhorring! I'm really very shocked by how much of this is getting through the security filter.
