Happy Halloween! I wore this costume last night to a party and got these shots in this morning, so it seemed appropriate to share.

Costume made and worn by me at Dragoncon 2010. I am a HUGE Firefly fan and have wanted to dress up as Inara for years. YEARS! Finally for D*C I got a group together and chose to make the red dress from the Episode "Train Job". I used over 5 yards of red dupioni silk on this outfit - so pretty and luxurious. I altered a pattern for the main dress and drafted my own patterns for the sleeves. The dress is serged and lined of course. I ordered three gold jewelry belts from ebay (those are hard to find!) and made them into one. It was nice to be able to use my own hair!

This is one of my favourite of Inara's costumes, along with her gown in the episode "Shindig". You did an amazing job of recreating this piece.

This is stunning! I'm browsing around so that I can cosplay as Inara (with my boyfriend as Mal) for next year's MTAC, but I'm not having any luck with finding a credible costume. Do you have any suggestions short of making your own?
