Character: C.C. - Code Geass (Artbook dress) Costume made/modeled by Yaya Photography by Paul Tien
This is the other costume I killed myself on for Katsucon 2013. I bought a 15 yard roll of this heavyweight dark red satin months ago and was just wanting for enough time to make this costume. Katsu was a perfect excuse to make a cupcake dress because I wanted something pretty to host the World Cosplay Summit in!
I made the templates for the butterflies and trim by cutting up the actual CLAMP artwork and sizing it up on the computer to myself. My friends Jessica and Megan helped me trace out the templates to make patterns, and together we transferred all the patterns onto fabric which I already cut and sewed into the skirts. Then I cut out all the trim and butterflies with a soldering tool, which took many days of breathing fumes and sore/burnt fingers. I also made the bodice, sleeves, hair pieces, choker, shoulder straps, petticoat... everything to complete this costume.
Wow, sounds like so much hard work but well worth it! The cut outs look simply amazing. It's so hard to find fabric that has any kind of design like that. Lovely work!
I love the head piece.
Magnificent cosplay~
